Curriculum Overview

Our School Curriculum

At Barnston every minute of learning time counts, so we make sure that we provide children with a rich and varied curriculum to enhance their learning. For more information about teaching methods and our curriculum, read the guides below. Right click and then ‘save link as…’ to save to your computer.

All the curriculum documents on this website provide the areas that we teach in the National Curriculum. All detailed plans for each subject are here - they are in the form of Progression of Skills & Knowledge documents for each subject, Long term plans for each subject, Medium term plans for each subject, or links to the scheme that provides these.

If you wish to see any short term planning (weekly), please ask to see the phase leads Mrs Lewis F2, Miss Nichols Y1/2, Mrs Hill Y3/4 and Mr Pipe Y5/6.

Through our curriculum, we aim to provide every child with access to a broad and balanced education. This includes the National Curriculum in line with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice. See our SEND Policy for more information.

MEDIUM TERM CURRICULUM PLANS

We have a PE/Games specialist who uses the framework of ‘Get set 4 PE’ and adapts this to meet the specific needs of our children continuously for every session, hence the MTPs are not on here as they are too long and complex.
