Design Technology

At Barnston Primary School, we nurture creative and imaginative thinking across the curriculum. The creativity that we encourage enables children to be able to take part and think about the development of tomorrow’s rapidly changing world; therefore, preparing them for their life beyond school. Design and Technology also enables children to investigate and understand the world around them. The subject encourages children to direct their own learning and become problem solvers, both as individuals and as part of a team. Through studying Design and Technology, we combine practical skills with social and environmental issues, as well as functions and industrial practices. Pupils are therefore able to investigate how the world around them works and deepen their understanding of the technology around them, which they can then reflect on and evaluate.
